May 8 Day 1
Well, we arrived safely in Boston after a cross-country flight. Two interesting things occurred after we arrived in Boston. We were driving on a freeway from the airport to our hotel in our rented car, when suddenly the freeway ended and we passed a sign reading"I-90 End". After a few moments, I realized that we truly were at the eastern end of I-90, that transcontinental interstate freeway that passes through our hometown of Spokane. I have also been at the western terminus of the same interstate where it hooks up with I-5 near Safeco Field in Seattle. Maybe someday I'll travel the whole way from west coast to east coast.
The other event happened as we were preparing to go to a restaurant for dinner. We are staying in the community of Revere, and a mile from here is Revere Beach, the first public beach in America. It was about 7:30 in the evening and the sky had a slight pinkish tint to its color, so I thought it would be nice to drive to the beach and watch the sunset. Much to my surprise, when we got to the beach, the sun was nowhere to be seen. I then turned around 180 degrees, and lo and behold, there was the sunset, setting over the land mass to the west. Well, duh. One thing is for certain, we're not in the West anymore.
